Well...... I can say with some authority.....that I know how much I suck at keeping up my website and promoting myself!
It's now the end of October.
It's been an amazing year of gigs and growth so far.
I consider myself to be very fortunate that I have so many talented friends who keep me working and focused on what I want to be doing. I've been able to rekindle some old friendships from my early days, reconnecting with mentors, and assess where my place is in all of that. Family is doing well. I really cannot complain.
In September I was able to reconnect with my first touring boss, legendary blues harpist James Montgomery. It was at a joint show with The Peter Newland Band, or Radio X. Also on this gig was bass player John O'Boyle, who happens to be the best friend of bassist Sean Hurley, who was in that band with James way back then. Sean has gone on to play with Vertical Horizon, John Mayer, Lari Basillio, Squeeze, just to name a few acts. Getting back to John O'Boyle, it has been one of the pleasures of my life to meet and play with him and I am looking forward to more. He's pretty busy with Jeff Pitchell these days but I'm sure we will do something together again.
A couple weeks ago I was blessed to be able to see Marty Stuart and Kenny Vaughan in Holyoke, Mass. What a show! Kenny Vaughan was so gracious to myself and the rest of Peters band, who were all there as we used the event as a "band Field Trip". It was worth the trek up there for sure.
Right now I am in the (slow) process of building another guitar which is exciting, and getting to try a few different new amps. Also as we head into the Winter I am hoping to start composing and recording my own stuff. We shall see how that goes.
